We Went Corporate

Don’t they look like senior photos from high school? I didn’t notice that until I lined them up like this, but I guess corporate head shots can’t get away from this style without losing their “corporateness”. I’d like to try to though if any Santa Barbara business out there is feeling creatively risky.

This is what wedding photographers do when …. actually this isn’t what we do at all - we have completely sold out! Haha - at least we had fun doing it. I found out later that the guy I had given the hardest time to was the CFO - whoops! Got a natural smile out of him though, didn’t I?

Garret & Janet Portraits in Montecito

My brother Garret and his girlfriend Janet drove up to Santa Barbara a few weeks ago for the exclusive privilege of being shot by moi. Excuse mon francais.

Actually, I lied. They were up to see family and what not and I stole them away to shoot some portraits.

These two aren’t your typical “Oh let’s do a photoshoot in the woods” kind of folk, but we made do.

Don’t ever try to fix Garret’s mustache!

Doesn’t Garret have kind of a Bill Murray face in this photo? Or is it Tom Hanks? I stole this crop from AVG.

Okay, I’ll stop commenting… oh wait..

Family Portraits in Santa Barbara

Austin & I met up with with Kip (Dad), Sam (Mom) and Cassy at East Beach for some family portraits!

As you could guess, Cassy pretty much stole the show.

Though Cass was shy at first, she let it all go soon enough! Haha - look at that grin!

It is moments like these that Austin & I get really excited about the birth of our daughter (Coming Soon!) These two made it look so easy and really showed us how much fun having a family can be.

Sam is 9 months pregnant and as you can tell, they are very excited to meet the new addition to the family!

What a shot! Cass is definitely a pro on the swings.

Brother & Sister Portraits for Dad

As a father’s day gift, Ken and his sister Kristina thought it would be cool to give the gift of photography. The three of us went out to one of the many local SB parks for about an hour before the sun went down.

While taking pictures, I couldn’t help but reference the infamous “Doo Dah Doo Doo” sketch from the Tim & Eric Show. Have you seen that? It is pure genius! “Okay kids, now… think about your dad.”

“Whats your dad like… I want to meet that dad!” … So flipping hilarious!

Randee Portraits on Beach

It was a beautiful day at Leadbetter beach when Randee and I went out to take photos. We got to play around on the lifeguard towers, and get plenty of quality portraits - Not to mention, we had a lot of fun! Enjoy…

Is it spelled “Leadbetter” or “Ledbetter” beach? Does anyone remember?

These are my favorite photo sessions: Lifestyle portraits on the beach! It Brings me back to the surf photography days!

Who knew that a portrait session could be so much fun? It’s cool how after a few photos are taken, you can forget about the camera and just have a good time!

I tried to take a bad picture of her, I swear… I just couldn’t!

Actually, this wasn’t an official portrait session. More like a “Hey man! Long time no see, can I take a picture of your gnarly beard?” This guys hair was out of control. Anthony is a cool guy - very mellow and laid back as you can probably tell.

Not that he’s homeless or anything, but his beard got me thinking that I would love to gather biographies and photos of homeless people around Santa Barbara and make a book.

Here is Marco Alejandro - a new buddy of mine! This guy carries his guitar around like I carry around my camera! I knew that he played classical guitar - and that he played at weddings, but I had no idea how talented this guy was. The other day I heard this beautiful music floating through the air, and I followed it like I was Tucan Sam in a Fruit Loops commercial. Haha… Anyways - low and behold, it was Marco. Of course I had to snap a few photos - right? Enjoy!

The title is ‘Fun Portraits of Ken’ for only one reason. Actually, okay, two reasons: Ken is a cool guy to hang out with, and I got to ride on a giant swing! With one hand holding on and the other shooting, I guess you could say my life was in the balance. Good times!
